Job Description

What´s the Role?

Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer (“CSO”), the VP, Emerging Business Activation/Venture Builder will be responsible for sourcing, directing and evaluating new opportunities that support the development of new adjacent revenue streams or businesses that leverage LLA’s scale and operations. These initiatives will be either incubated internally or may require partnership, acquisition or strategic investment in start-ups that support this development.  This position requires an entrepreneurial and investor mindset with a deep understanding of Fintech and Telecommunications and of the opportunities that digitization will bring to the Telecom sector. Experience and proven track record in going from concept to viable product and launch to revenue quickly and cheaply is a must. Strong networking and business development skills critical to success in this role. Start-up mind-set with ability to navigate corporate organizations and pitch and negotiate win-win partnerships.

How you will add value?

  • Maintain a deep understanding of and advise the business on industry trends and implications for business strategy and development opportunities
  • Develop/nurture relationships with key industry players and potential partners/targets to source future accretive growth strategies through acquisition, divestiture, future investment and partnership opportunities
  • Develop strategic roadmap to develop/partnership/joint venture for FinTech product in region
  • To identify new market segments and assess operational problems or issues to stay ahead in the competitive marketplace
  • Play a strategic role in the M&A department maintaining an understanding of the business’s investment needs and endeavors to turn those into tangible engagements and proposals
  • Create a Kill or Build/Buy framework and apply meticulously to varied opportunities
  • Strategic leadership vision and negotiation of business partnerships and joint ventures

What you need?

Preferred education:

  • Graduate level (Bachelors or higher) degree in Business or Engineering, with significant experience in business development, M&A, Corporate Incubator or similar or FinTech startup. MBA preferred and fluent Spanish speaker preferred

Specific Knowledge & Experience:

  • 15+ years in business development, with venture investing
  • Experience in Start-up tech Incubator or Accelerator environment
  • Track record of delivering value through both organic inorganic growth activities
  • Experience working with Telecommunications and FinTech companies to take products to market or create new businesses
  • Strong financial, analytical and valuation skills, including the ability to develop a strategic perspective for target identification and evaluation
  • Demonstrated problem-solving /decision-making skills with the ability to understand a complex product portfolio and identify inorganic pathways to growth
  • Strong commercial acumen coupled with energetic drive
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and lead cross functional teams
  • Self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity and independent work
  • Excellent project management and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English and Spanish
